Casey Jones Home & Railroad Museum

Casey Jones Home & Railroad Museum

This is a historical location centered on train engineer Casey Jones. He was an engineer for the Illinois Central Railroad who was killed in 1900 while working. The brave engineer died when he tried to protect his train and passengers from a collision instead of bailing out.

This area contains Casey Jones’s historic home, a railroad museum, and a Southern restaurant. The museum tells the story of Casey Jones and Jackson’s rich railroad history. Brooks Shaw’s Old Country Store Restaurant serves family-style Southern comfort food. Visitors of all ages can board the village’s 35-ton locomotive that is similar to Casey’s engine 382.
